If you are looking for calm and relaxed, for beaches without international hotel complexes, for friendly locals and no hustling – Tobago is the place!
In the main tourist places around Crown Point and Scarborough you’ll have plenty of bars, retaurants, bike rentals, hotels, hostels, boat tours, etc.. However, outside, you’ll find many quiet villages, palm tree framed beaches, waterfalls, lots of nature and numerous guest houses for every budget.
You can get here from Trinidad either by car ferry (2,5h) or by plane (25min flight time).
Since I’m on vacation and not in a hurry, I took the ferry and was lucky that the sea was rather calm. Some fellow passengers told me that it can be pretty rough, so that many would have to spend their time in the restrooms…
